Portal Downtime Starting Feb. 24th for License & Application Portals

The LBVM License and Application Portals will be undergoing a software system upgrade starting on Monday, February 24th, 2025. During this system upgrade, both portals are expected to be unavailable for 3 to 4 weeks. Therefore, please expect significant delays in the processing time for submitted applications and supplemental application material along with continuing education reviews. During this system shutdown period, the LBVM office will be unable to receive any new applications through the LBVM Application Portal and will be unable to process any supplemental documentation received from third parties (license verifications, transcripts, exam scores, etc). Additionally, the LBVM License Portal will be shut down and current licensees will not be able to submit any continuing education activity during the shutdown. During this software system upgrade, our office will also be unable to process license verification requests, license directory requests, and complaint submissions. Applicants and current licensees will receive more email notifications as the exact date for the software upgrade and system shutdown is determined, as well as updates once the system is restored and available.

Feel free to email our office with any questions about this expected system downtime to admin@lsbvm.org.

License Registry of DVMs, RVTs, & CAETs

The LBVM License Registry allows interested parties to verify the most up-to-date status of all active and expired DVM licensees (including Faculty licensees), RVT certificate holders and CAET certificate holders. Cancelled and otherwise invalid licenses are not yet included in the LBVM License Registry.

The LBVM License Registry is NOT primary source and does not currently include any disciplinary information for current, active or expired licensees and certificate holders. For such information, a public records request must be made.

DISCLAIMER: The  information in the LBVM License Registry is updated periodically with data provided by the licensees as part of the application and/or annual renewal process. Due to the possibility of reporting and processing errors, the accuracy and completeness of records cannot be guaranteed. The LBVM cannot be held responsible for incomplete or inaccurate information in each licensees’ record. Visitors assume sole responsibility for any decisions made based upon this information.

Practicing veterinary medicine in the state of Louisiana without a current, ACTIVE license is a direct violation of the LA Veterinary Practice Act and is a serious offense for which the Board can take action. If you suspect someone of practicing veterinary medicine without a current, active license – such as an expired license – as indicated in the LBVM License Registry, the Board urges you to submit a formal complaint for investigation at www.lsbvm.org/complaints.

The Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine is allowed by statute to provide a directory of licensees and certificate holders to include public information only. The directory cost is $0.02 per licensee included in directory PLUS a nominal credit card processing fee (2.8% + $0.25). The exact total for the requested directory cannot be provided until the form is completed and the directory is compiled based on the data that is being requested. An invoice will be emailed to you and can be paid via credit card through Authorize.net, our payment processor. The directory will be emailed to you in a MS Excel file format once the invoice has been paid in full.

Disciplinary information is not part of the directory and is only available as a Public Records Request for an individual licensee.
