Act No. 253 of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session, known as the “Welcome Home Act,” passed with bipartisan support and aims to reduce barriers to employment while encouraging skilled professionals to return to Louisiana to build their careers and lives. Adjustments have been made to the declaration section of the applications for licensure which require an applicant to verify whether proof of residency can be provided in accordance with La R.S. 37:53 of Act. No. 253. If residency is established and confirmed by the Board along with all other criteria, a conditional license or certification will be issued – pending normal licensure – to an applicant.
