Welcome to the LA Board of Veterinary Medicine

Countdown to Renewals (July 1, 2026)

All license and certificate renewals – which includes the submission of CE activity and payment of all fees – must be completed through the LBVM License Portal by no later than Sept. 30th, 2026. Please visit the Renewal Info page and carefully read through the renewal instructions. In accordance with the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC 46:LXXXV), even if a renewal is submitted and initial payment is made, the renewal will still be incomplete if there is missing information and/or documentation related to continuing education activity. ALL documentation of compliance with continuing education requirements must be received by Sept. 30th; otherwise, a renewal will be incomplete and will expire on Oct. 1st at which time the late renewal fee and possibly the late CE fee may be assessed.

Veterinary Practice Act & Rulemaking

The Louisiana Veterinary Practice Act, the Board Rules, and complimentary legal authority are provided below; however, they are continuously under review and subject to the adoption of new rules and the amendment or repeal of current rules at any time based on circumstances presented to the Board.
