License & Disciplinary Search
Practicing veterinary medicine in the state of Louisiana without a current, ACTIVE license is a direct violation of the LA Veterinary Practice Act and is a serious offense for which the Board can take action. If you suspect someone of practicing veterinary medicine without a current, active license – such as an expired license – as indicated in the LBVM License Registry, the Board urges you to submit a formal complaint for investigation on the Board’s File a Complaint page.
The Online LBVM License Registry serves as primary source verification of licenses and certificates issued by the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine.
The Registry information is updated in real-time and includes disciplinary action taken against a licensee if any exist and if it is considered public record in accordance with the provisions of the Louisiana Public Records Laws, LA Revised Statute 44:1 and following.
Louisiana law exempts production of any “report, records, writings, accounts, letters, exhibits, data, pictures, drawings, charts, photographs, or copies of memoranda thereof, concerning the fitness of any person to receive or continue to hold any license to practice as a veterinarian…; however, any final determination made by the board, and any legal grounds upon which such action is based, relative to the fitness of any person to receive or continue to hold a license to practice as a veterinarian shall be a public record.” [See LA Revised Statute 44:4(3) and LA Revised Statute 44: 4(12).]
If there are any questions as to the validity of any information presented for a licensee, please contact the Board at admin@lsbvm.org or 225-925-6620.
